SymDPOP: Adapting DPOP to exploit partial symmetries
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work proposes a new approach to dealing with symmetries in Distributed Constraint Optimisation Problems by adapting the DPOP algorithm [1]. In contrast to an already proposed distributed preprocessing method leading to a problem redefinition [2], we present here a method that exploits the structure of DFS trees, with no explicit redefinition of the problem. We exhibit the flexibility in the symmetry detection that this algorithm offers, then compare its performance with DPOP and the aforementioned preprocessing method. We demonstrate that SymDPOP significantly cuts down the total volume of communication spent on symmetric and partially symmetric problems, the latter being problems containing symmetric subproblems. We also stress the fact that SymDPOP minimises the overhead of symmetry detection by keeping the total volume of communication below that of DPOP.

A Diffusion Equation with Exponential Nonlinearity Recant Developments
The purpose of this paper is to analyze in detail a special nonlinear partial differential equation (nPDE) of the second order which is important in physical, chemical and technical applications. The present nPDE describes nonlinear diffusion and is of interest in several parts of physics, chemistry and engineering problems alike. Since nature is not linear intrinsically the nonlinear case is t...
متن کاملImproving DPOP with Branch Consistency for Solving Distributed Constraint Optimization Problems
The DCOP model has gained momentum in recent years thanks to its ability to capture problems that are naturally distributed and cannot be realistically addressed in a centralized manner. Dynamic programming based techniques have been recognized to be among the most effective techniques for building complete DCOP solvers (e.g., DPOP). Unfortunately, they also suffer from a widely recognized draw...
متن کاملPC-DPOP: A New Partial Centralization Algorithm for Distributed Optimization
Fully decentralized algorithms for distributed constraint optimization often require excessive amounts of communication when applied to complex problems. The OptAPO algorithm of [Mailler and Lesser, 2004] uses a strategy of partial centralization to mitigate this problem. We introduce PC-DPOP, a new partial centralization technique, based on the DPOP algorithm of [Petcu and Faltings, 2005]. PCD...

The paper is devoted to an application of Lie group theory to differential equations. The basic infinitesimal method for calculating symmetry group is presented, and used to determine general symmetry group of some differential equations. We include a number of important applications including integration of ordinary differential equations and finding some solutions of partial differential equa...
متن کاملPC-DPOP: A Partial Centralization Extension of DPOP
A number of algorithms have been recently proposed for distributed constraint optimization problems (DCOP). Fully decentralized examples include ADOPT [11] (search) or DPOP [12] (dynamic programming). Difficult optimization problems have been shown to require important amounts of communication when these algorithms are used (large number of small messages for ADOPT, or few but large messages fo...
